About the theater

The Traveller Wagon Wheel Theatre Company exists to enhance Traveller potential, ability and skills to address the issues which affect the quality of their lives through the medium of Arts.

Main productions

2016
Michael Collins: Ireland, Shed a Tear?
D.: Anthony Fox

A year since the Carrick mines fire, is there any conceivable way for a piece of theatre to engage? Michael Collins' play for the Dublin Theatre Festival, Ireland Shed a Tear? takes on one mountain of a job: commemorating a raw and recent tragedy, and bringing the disparate, antagonistic communities of Travelers and settled people together in a darkened room to do so.

Michael Collins: Father Tinker Soldier
D.: Mick Rafferty

The title in some ways tells it all but not quite. Michael Collins is a storyteller. He is from the travelling community, and he tells the story of a Travelling family as handed down verbally by his granny and parents. It is therefore the story of relatively recent times.

2010
Michael Collins: Same Difference Worlds Apart
D.: Mick Rafferty

A young Traveller woman is forced to flee her home because of domestic violence. She finds a new home in England and a new love in the arms of an African man. When she becomes hospitalized, her partner Tiga enlists the help of her brother Miley. With so many similarities and differences in their strong cultural backgrounds, will Miley and Tiga be able to pull together in the face of tragedy?
